KAELAN STROUSE WAS BORN DROWNING.
AND THEN ALL THE OTHER DEATHS CAME.

Bullied nearly out of existence. Sworn to a cult leader who tried to annihilate him via email. Dissolved through a portal on a mountaintop in the Andes. Yet none of the deaths were final. What brought him back each time was something deceptively simple: love—the love of a man he had somehow known since he was six years old, listening to a voice in a toy red Corvette that no one else could hear.

Ecstaticism is a memoir braided with an invented scripture—nine erotic psalms in which two gay priests return for each other across a hundred millennia of floods and burning skies—and a philosophy that refuses transcendence in favor of reinhabiting the body and staying in this life when every voice is whispering for you to leave.

It is profane. It is tender. It is irreverent. It is earnest. Do not expect to leave it the way you entered. It is not here to argue. It is here to induce. Read it as art, not advice. You won’t fully understand what it is doing until the final page—and then you’ll understand all at once.

For the outsiders, the misfits, and the others. For those told they were too much—or never enough: you have found your dwelling place.

The threshold.

PRAISE for ECSTATICISM

“Raised in a church that taught shame of the body, sex, nudity, and the gay part of me I could never change, I found Ecstaticism unexpectedly healing. Kaelan doesn’t reject spirituality; he reimagines it. He offers a path away from shame and toward joy, authenticity, and the radical idea that our humanity is something to be celebrated, not hidden.”
— Del Shores, writer/director of Sordid Lives and Southern Baptist Sissies

“Kaelan’s words will wrap around you and take you on a beautiful journey of healing and freedom. This book is a beautiful guide for anyone looking to express themselves freely and live their lives fully.”
— Travis Holp, celebrity medium and author of Are You There, Spirit? It’s Me, Travis

“From the prelude on you are instantly transported away on a journey of self realization and wonder. Then, safely returned and inspired to navigate your path ahead. A must read.”
— Jai Rodriguez, original cast member of the Emmy Award–winning Queer Eye for the Straight Guy
