PRAISE FOR JAMES KANGAS

"At Sibling Rivalry Press, we are committed to honoring our elders and those generations that came before us. We're here today, publishing the books we publish, because a group of writers had the courage to publish queer-themed poetry in the 70s and 80s in underground publications that slowly brought that work into the light. These writers broke down the walls so that we could eventually walk through the doors. James Kangas is one of these writers. I found his work at an important time in my life, right when I was conceptualizing what I wanted Sibling Rivalry Press to be. As a poet, he's brilliant, and he held open the door for us. As friend to this press, he is kind, and he simply held our hand, especially in our early years. Simply put, this publishing house would not exist without poets like James Kangas, and we're proud to honor and celebrate him with Breath of Eden." - BRYAN BORLAND -

“In these lush, finely wrought poems, Jim Kangas reaches back into childhood and forward to death, to show us how desire, unquenched and unquenchable, becomes the axis of our lives. Here, we are exalted and crushed by beauty--what is always lost to us and always "sprout[ing] up... perennial as wild carrot.” - BENJAMIN S. GROSSBERG -
